Robbie Elder - Special Counsel

Robbie commenced with the firm in 2019 as Special Counsel. Robbie was admitted to practice in 2004, and worked as a legal advisor for workers compensation scheme agents until he commenced work in private practice in 2007. His time working with scheme agents provides Robbie with an insight into the demands, and operational needs that insurers face when managing claims, particularly within the statutory workers compensation scheme.

Robbie specialises in representing respondents in workers compensation matters, providing legal advice to employers and insurers on workers compensation law in NSW. He represents a wide variety of employers and insurers, including large manufacturers, government agencies, small businesses, self insurers, specialised insurers and scheme agents. He frequently provides seminars and papers on the law. Robbie believes strongly in partnering with his clients to obtain the best outcome for all stakeholders involved in a matter, and he provides an honest appraisal of the options available to resolve a claim or dispute.

Robbie is an advocate on behalf of his employer clients in the Workers Compensation Commission and he has successfully argued appeals to the Supreme Court of NSW for judicial review, and appeals to the Deputy President of the Workers Compensation Commission.
