A message from Rankin Ellison Lawyers
On 3 January 2021 we lost a dearly loved member of our firm, our friend and mentor, Paul Richard Manion (PRM).
Paul was larger than life. A clever, cheeky, vivacious and strategic individual and lawyer, he quickly became friends with all who knew him, and was then a friend for life. He was steadfastly loyal and fierce, but compassionate and a total softie.
Paul was a longstanding Partner at Moroney Rutter Mantach, now MRM Lawyers, before joining Rankin Nathan, now Rankin Ellison Lawyers, where he saw out his career as a Director. Across both firms, Paul’s gentleness and approachability made him a firm favourite (probably the favourite) amongst staff.
He was a mentor to all, always happy to teach and share his wealth of knowledge and experience.
His caring and attentive nature meant that he also became the ‘office dad’ to many, being a constant support, and sharing and celebrating personal milestones.
Paul was a highly regarded and well-respected personal injury practitioner, but his experience was broad, having practiced in many areas of law for decades. Paul’s passing is a loss for the whole of the Newcastle legal profession. The loss is greatest for his wife and children, Gail, Luke and Clare, and we extend to them our deepest condolences, but also our gratitude to them for sharing such an inspiring man with the rest of us.
